And so who best to start with than the Queen of Crazy herself, Lady G. In a move away from her usual fashion favourite, Thierry Mugler, Gaga plumped for a quartet of designs from fellow French designer Paco Rabane. She collected her first award wearing a silver satellite dish-inspired number, artfully accessorised with a Philip Treacy saucer style headpiece. Gaga then took to the stage in a metallic red lizard-esque ensemble, before slipping into a silver chainmail dress for the red carpet as she struggled to hold her armful of awards.

Rivalling Gaga for her impressive list of outfit changes was songstress Jessie J, who sported no less than 3 red carpet looks. In a departure from her usual skin-tight one sie, Jessie opted for a Bette Lynch-come-Hollywood screen siren look with a floor length leopard print number - offset perfectly by side parted hair and a bold red lip. But we weren't left disappointed as Jessie also showed off her amazing bod in one of her signature body stockings before demonstrating her fashion credentials with one of Mary Katrantzou's art deco inspired print dresses.

Other fashion hits of the night included MTV EMA host, Selena Gomez, who arrived on the red carpet in a stunning cream organza and lace mini dress by Marchesa. Katy Perry went for cartoonish glamour with bubble gum pink hair and a candy pink leather jacket. The look was finished with cute ankle socks and lace up platform brogues.

For all those who got it right - no matter how bonkers they were - there was a handful of 'stars' that didn't quite cut it.
