Emma Watson The Style Icon - Shopping - Fashion Style

Emma Watson rose to popularity starring as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movie franchise. Since 2001 (and at the young age of nine), the fresh-faced star has grown up in the public eye, and even though she has proven herself as a tremendously talented and critically praised actress, it's her fashion sense which has really taken centre stage lately.

It was apparent from her red carpet appearances that Emma's fashion selections and taste have been getting much better} over the years, but it was in 2008 when she truly started becoming a significant player in the fashion world.

Not only was she popping up in all the 'best dressed' lists and in the front row of many important fashion shows, but there was a lot of conjecture that she was going to replace Keira Knightley as the fresh face of Chanel.

Despite continual rumours connecting her to Chanel, and her ubiquitous presence at international fashion shows, it was actually declared that Emma (aged just nineteen) had secured the contract as the latest face of Burberry. Filling the shoes of Kate Moss and Agyness Deyn, she fronted the Burberry Autumn/Winter '09 marketing campaign and showed she could carve out a figure as a major fashion icon as well as a leading actress.

The advertising campaign, which was captured by Mario Testino, features Watson in apparel from the Burberry autumn/winter collection, which was influenced by Virginia Woolf and the Bloomsbury set.

At the time, Burberry's creative director Christopher Bailey referred to the teenage superstar as the "obvious choice" for the campaign, declaring;

"Emma has a classic beauty, a great character and a modern edge. Her charm, intellect and brilliant sense of fun made the whole shoot feel like a picnic on the Thames"

Following her success in the Burberry campaign (where it was claimed she received a six figure sum), she later made an appearance in the 2010 Spring/Summer advertising campaign together with her brother Alex.

At this moment in time, one couldn't blame the actress if she decided to spend the rest of her days as a full-time clothes horse, but instead she chose to flex her substantial style aptitude by creating a range for the ethical clothing brand People Tree. This was a savvy move - People Tree has some considerable fashion cred, and up to this point clothing with a conscience had never seemed quite so on trend.

In February 2010 the collection was unveiled and Emma was quoted as stating;

"It is hard to know what is good and what is bad on the high street and equally hard to find fashionable or youthful ethical clothing, so I decided to work with People Tree to put together a collection I could be proud of in terms of both ethics and design"

Following her success in fashion, the movie star also demonstrated she was just as in demand in the beauty industry when she became the latest face of Lancme cosmetics in March 2011.

Company president Youcef Nabi went on to effuse about Emma stating;

"Thanks to her charm, romanticism and her incredible modernity, she has become the icon of her generation"

The actress stepped up her cool and trendy status just before the Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows; Part Two promotional responsibilities a short while ago when she appeared on the cover of July 2011's edition of Vogue.

Appearing all grown-up and sophisticated she modelled a chic Prada Autumn 2011 dress accessorized with a pair of bangles by Ben-Amun and a cute floral band.

Bagging the cover of American Vogue was an enormous testament to her style muse reputation, especially when you take into consideration that the classy pictures were taken by the renowned photographer Mario Testino and the designs came from designers Tom Ford, Alexander McQueen, Prada, Calvin Klein and Dolce & Gabbana.

It's essential to note that she was just (blank) 21 on the day that (blank) Vogue interviewed her for the scoop to compliment her very first cover. Even fashion goddess Sienna Miller only managed her initial cover at the age of twenty six.

Since gaining (blank) mega-star status, Emma Watson has become quite the fashionista and is respected as much for her preppy off-duty style, as she is for her slick red carpet appearances. Without a doubt it would seem fashion designers are falling over themselves to dress the starlet as she's just completed the promotional trail for the new Harry Potter film, donning a range of designers from Balmain & Oscar de la Renta to Valentino and Elie Saab.

Taking into account her appearance in American Vogue, her latest red-carpet outfits, & many of 2011's best-dressed lists, one fact is unmistakable; the fashion world just can't get enough of the Harry Potter star. She may have initially surfaced in a Hogwarts uniform, but she's flourished into everybody's favourite English star and appears ready to an icon. I'm excited to see what she does (and wears!) next!
