Designer Watches or Fashion Watches: What Is The Difference - Shopping

The terms "designer watches" and "fashion watches" are often used interchangeably, and there is no set rule for their use. It may be argued, however, that designer watches are a subset of the wider fashion watches category, simply because not all fashionable watches bear famous designer labels. Put another way, all designer watches are fashionable watches, but not all fashionable watches are strictly designer created or endorsed.

More than mere idle sophistry, such a distinction can be useful, if that's the correct word when speaking of fairly expensive non-necessities like fashion designer watches, because there are many watches which are really cool or fashionable - fashion watches - that are not designer at all and therefore don't count as fashion watches per se for many, including the merchants who to a certain degree decide what we get to see and possibly buy. It's something of a catch-22 situation, actually: if vendors do not perceive the need, they will not stock up; but if they don't stock up and offer such goods for sale, the public would typically not think to request them! Thus if everyone were more judicious in their use of the terms "designer watches" and "fashion watches" then it's arguable that more variety would be on offer than seems currently the case.

For example, ever heard of TokyoFlash? (Yes, it's really spelled that way, in CamelCase format, underscoring their cutting-edge ethos.) They make some very interesting designs, rather far-out kinds that might even have you guessing how the time and date are supposed to be ascertained! Bold and iconoclastic, their twelve 5-9 model redefines how a watch is supposed to look. Their Unisex and Nekura Scramble watches are also aesthetically innovative and forward-looking. Indeed, they make the most futuristic-looking timepieces anywhere! Not even hi-tech watches with all kinds of gizmos on-board feel as visionary.

Yes, there are incredibly revolutionary watches for sale which offer built-in television and radio tuners, also pulling duty as highly portable music players and camera phones! It's absolutely amazing how so much functionality can be crammed into the traditional form factor of a wristwatch. They would likely be quite fashionable but for not being considered "fashion watches" and thus not classified as such by search engines under the term, with the result that very few people even know they exist and are on sale! So it would be better for everyone to think more carefully about what constitutes fashion watches in the 21st Century, for such timepieces are sure to be fashionable, given how handy they are, if only they hadn't been rendered invisible by word-choices.
